TheRoom

Wednesday night saw us roll into the city for another excellent Art Show opening by the Tim’s…This particular show conceptualized the need to fill space and showed once again how modern art can be achieved in a myriad of ways.

The show leads the observer along a journey from the simplicity of individualism to the beauty of friendship and a bond that can not be described by words. Ultimately bemusing the eye with a vast installation of the typical crack den. I believe that the artists wished for the viewer to come to his or her own conclusion in regards to what the work meant to them.

I distinctly remember overhearing one critic cite ‘the fact that they felt they needed narration to fully understand what the artist was prescribing within the works.’ Which totally missed the point again!

The Work is showing at !Metro Arts (Brisbane) for a fortnight… it’s well worth a look.

Vending Machines

August 31, 2009 | Category: Fresh | Leave a Comment

vending_machine

Vending machines – a device conceived by man to widen the waste line, to be “convenient” all while having the ability to frustrate no end. As seen in many comedy routines, the old ‘vending machine ate my money’ can be a staving and frustrating means to a end. End of a vending machine that is, as I sit here I realize that I have come to the conclusion that I’m not only frustrated at the vending machine rather the environment that I am in that creates the need to go to a vending machine spend the money and create the forth coming frustration.

Tilt Shift Photography

August 21, 2009 | Category: Fresh | Leave a Comment

“Tilt-shift photography refers to the use of camera movements on small- and medium-format cameras; it usually requires the use of special lenses.

“Tilt-shift” actually encompasses two different types of movements: rotation of the lens plane relative to the image plane, called tilt, and movement of the lens parallel to the image plane, called shift. Tilt is used to control the orientation of the plane of focus (PoF), and hence the part of an image that appears sharp; it makes use of the Scheimpflug principle. Shift is used to change the line of sight while avoiding the convergence of parallel lines, as when photographing tall buildings.

In many cases, “tilt-shift photography” refers to the use of tilt and a large aperture to achieve a very shallow depth of field.” Cheers to Wikipedia for that technical explanation…. but pretty much you end up with a photo that can end up looking like a over saturated model or a set of miniatures, this theme can be quite entertaining here is a Tilt Shift Fake that i whip up in PhotoShop….

Gravity

June 11, 2009 | Category: Fresh | Leave a Comment

Teeeph
So i was listening to a guy talk to another guy about gravity which lead me to google images and then took me to a site in Germany, and then to a galaxy that is about 200000000000kms to the north, really just a hop and a skip. Anyway to the point, guy one was explain to guy two that when mass spins at a curtain speed than it forms the shape of  a sphere, for example Earth though Earth is not exactly a sphere it approximately has a ten kilometer larger diameter at the equator than it does at the poles. Try to arrive at a point now guy two then was able to express the reasons that galaxies are relatively flat, unlike the Earth than spins @ a speed of 1 rotation every 24hrs a galaxy rotation may take up to 200 million year to complete one rotation. So what, this is what flicks from Hubble, a pretty out there photographer!
